About the workshop

LVPEI Center for Innovation and MIT (Massachusetts) in sponsorship from MIT-India (Massachusetts) and L V Prasad Eye Institute (Hyderabad) are holding a three-day workshop in Hyderabad to allow design and engineering students to directly collaborate with people who have visual disabilities and examine problems and identify solutions. During this workshop participants will work with focus groups, rehabilitation experts and professionals from various domains to ideate and rapid prototype.

The workshop will be mentored by Dr. Kyle Keane, Lecturer and Research Scientist from MIT, who specializes in computational materials science, human-centered design, and engineering technology that helps people with disabilities, with Dr. Beula Christy, head of Centre for Rehabilitation of Blind and Visually Impaired at LVPEI. The workshop will be co mentored by the other MIT faculty and team from LVPEI Center for Innovation.

What is humanistic co-design ?

Humanistic Co-design nurtures the thought of including the motivations of the user while building solutions for them. The process begins through holistic connections with people without a design/engineering agenda and concrete designs are allowed to reveal themselves through our intrinsic humanity and desire to be of service.

We focus on what makes solutions sustainable: Co-Design
